Countryside and Land Based Group

As well as its main Board, the Wiltshire Strategic Economic Partnership (WSEP) has a number of Advisory Groups that have been established to take forward specific areas of work on behalf of the Partnership. The Countryside and Land Based Group's main aims are as follows:

  • Drive policy and strategy with regards to land-based and land management issues in Wiltshire, in line with Defra's Rural Strategy 2004, focussing on the economy, environment and social justice.
  • Egage with, challenge and influence regional strategies and plans on behlaf of Wiltshire's rural business, farming and land-based interests.
  • Provide specialist assessment of trends, opportunities and the impact of rural programmes for the rural economy, land-based sector.
  • Develop strategies that support the work of education and training providers in providing key skills to the land-based sector.
  • Identify duplication and gaps in delivery and recommend remedies.
  • Provide a Wiltshire interface with the South West Rural Implementation Plan, the South West Sustainable Farming and Food Strategy, South West Chamber of Rural Enterprise and the delivery of the Rural Development Programme for England across Wiltshire.
